Mornington Island is situated in the south west corner of the Gulf of Carpentaria. The island itself is approximately 70 by 30 kilometers in size. The majority of the population is made up of Lardil tribe people who have resided on the island for generations. The other portion of the population are the Bentick Islanders who moved to Mornington Island about 1947, from a group of small islands south east of Mornington Island after a cyclone destroyed their village.

This patch has been superseded some years ago, as it was for a volunteer Community Police Group.

They were disbanded when a professional Community Police force was established.
